Nissan Estimates Leaf Price Around $20,000; Reservations Coming

Nissan North America says it has received 22,000 queries about the Leaf electric car in the U.S., and is targeting 20,000 reservations by the end of next year. It will start taking names in early spring, says spokesman Scott Stevens. No price has been announced for the Leaf, but Stevens said it would be comparable to a leading economy compact car. Asked if $20,000 would at least be in the ballpark, he said, “I can’t give you numbers, but it’s probably in the range of what you just cited.
