Recyclers Top Newsweek Food and Beverage Industry Green Rankings
Coca-Cola Enterprises, Coca-Cola’s biggest bottler, took the number one spot on Newsweek’s 2009 Green Rankings in the food and beverage category — followed by the Coca-Cola Company itself. Both companies were praised for their focus on recycling and water efficiency. Green ratings are a tricky subject; there are so many different elements to look at. Which is more important — a company’s carbon footprint or its water footprint? Do companies get points for going organic? Should use of genetically modified ingredients be a factor at all?
