Starbucks Sues Former Exec Over Dunkin’ Job

Dunkin’ Donuts new brand operations officer Paul Twohig deserves some sort of prize for brazenness. Starbucks is suing Twohig, saying he violated a non-compete agreement with the coffee company when he took the Dunkin’ Donuts position. Twohig was a senior VP in brand development for Starbucks until March, when he left the company. A non-compete clause banned him from working for any competitors for 18 months. According to the Starbucks complaint, Twohig actually called Starbucks in August asking to be released from the clause so he could work for Dunkin’ Donuts. Starbucks refused, the company says, but Twohig took the job anyway. The best part of the story is how Starbucks learned about Twohig’s new position: through an internet search….
