Starting Over With Or Without The VH-71
The Pentagon discussed starting a new program to buy the President a helicopter. The last attempt was the VH-71 but this was canceled by the Obama Administration due to cost and schedule problems. Some in Congress want to use parts of the old program leading to fight about the defense budget.

Climate Change: CO2 is Not the Only Gas Attack
How is your company air-conditioning its buildings? It may be the equipment it's using is unsustainable, even though it complies with today's environmental regulations. Although CO2 is by far the most common greenhouse gas (gasses that are trapped in the earth's atmosphere which retain more heat from the sun), there are other, more potent greenhouse gasses with a defined Global Warming Potential (GWP). Methane, for example, has a GWP of 40, meaning that one Tonne of methane in the atmosphere has the same greenhouse effect as 40 Tonnes of CO2. The chemical Hydroflurocarbon (HFC) has a GWP of 2,000 and is in common use in air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Ironically these gasses were introduced to replace the ozone depleting...

Sears Face(book)s Black Friday
Give Sears Holding (SHLD) credit for making the most out of Black Friday, as it’s not only squeezing the event for all its worth without actually discounting more deeply than other retailers, but it’s also using initiatives revolving around the date to boost its social networking initiatives. Of course, the company got a lot of attention as October ended by running a Black Friday sale on Halloween weekend. An interesting aspect of the sale was that the discounts offered were pretty reasonably, at least from the Sears perspective. The company offered 10 percent off national brands in its strongest categories, tools and major appliances, and 20 percent off its popular Craftsman and Kenmore labels, which have margin advantages built in...

The Kidney Stone-Climate Bill Connection
Advocates of a bill to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the United States have touted its benefits like job creation and energy independence. They've made their let's save-the-environment plea. What about the kidney stones argument? Is there anything quite as powerful as the threat of an uncomfortable medical condition to sway public opinion? Incidents of kidney stones -- along with a host of other, more serious ailments -- may increase as global temperatures rise, researchers at Harvard Medical School said recently at a Capitol Hill briefing in Washington D.C. Representatives from major U.S. medical associations including the American Medical Association joined the researchers in their call for action on a climate bill. The AMA also sent a letter to President Obama, citing "significant...
