If you're in the market for a new computer - or at least a new operating system - don't worry about trying to avoid the absolute latest stuff.  A lot of companies are going to adopt Windows 7, and even more don't have any problem with the software, according to the results of a fresh survey.

MDC Partners Q3: Net Income Not Noted in “Preliminary” Numbers

MDC Partners released a "preliminary" set of Q3 2009 numbers today that did not include its net income, the profit from the company that (in theory) belongs to investors and shareholders. Revenues decreased 5.3 percent to $134.6 million, the company reported. "EBITDA," a form of profit that does not include interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, increased 9.9 percent to $17.7 million, the company said.

AstraZeneca Reps Seem Resigned to the Inevitable as Details Emerge of Buyout Package

AstraZeneca sales reps are reacting with relative calm to the news that they will all be offered buyouts as the company attampts to figure out how many will be laid off if too few take the package. A glance at CafePharma's message boards shows that aside from the usual clowns, the staff seem to understand that layoffs are inevitable at a company that has $620 million in outstanding legal liabilities and shown only modest gains in its existing "Enhancing Productivity" program.

Atheists are running a $25,000 ad campaign on the New York City subway system. Their effort has already met with a backlash of sarcasm, which is what passes for religion in the Big Apple. Funding for the campaign has come from an anonymous donor, and the media has been remarkably incurious as to who that is.
